The Plant / Facilities Engineer will work with current Facilities Engineer to learn the responsibilities of the role, as well the mill’s facilities, people and work systems. Successful learning and development will lead to transition of responsibilities, progressing up to full scope in preparation for incumbent retirement.
  • Ensure mill performance meets Company Policies and Company Global Manufacturing Systems standards
  • Provide oversight and collaboration with area maintenance and operations teams on tanks, pressure vessels and pressure relief valves; steel and painting; roofs, buildings and concrete; elevated platforms, stairs and ladders; HVAC and building ventilation; piping and pipe bridges; insulation; equipment bases; cranes and lifting devices; housekeeping; sewers and underground pipes; asbestos abatement; roads and railroads; fire protection; fencing, demolition, dikes and levees, stacks and chimneys; and cooling towers
  • Learn the Capital Budget Process to be able to assist the Capital Project Engineers with the development and installation of projects
  • Mentor less experienced engineering technical graduates to assist them in their development.
  • Assist EHS in the maintenance of the overland flow waste water treatment plant and solid waste facilities as requested.
  • Provide guidance for preventative and repair maintenance to ensure that plant operations are able to meet output quotas and deadlines.
  • Conduct operational tests to ensure that designs fall within the expected specifications. They may also design and improve processes to increase plant production efficiency and quality.
  • Position may include project team management tasks or the planning and execution of an engineering project in a designated area of expertise.
  • Other daily tasks can include designing manufacturing layouts, coordinating equipment selections, interacting with contractors, and evaluating quotes.
  • Fully involved with management team. Provides technical input, solutions and options on improving productivity/efficiencies, and documented product quality, for all product lines.
  • Assists with bids on construction, alteration or installation work as required. Recommends contractors based on cost, workmanship, and completion dates. Administers such contracts, and coordinates work performed to insure expectations are met.
  • Maintains current layout of buildings and grounds indicating location of all pipes, electrical service, drainage and other utility services.
  • Provide technical oversight of production equipment, plant facilities and plant utilities.
  • Responsible for oversight of the operation and maintenance of the facilities heating, air conditioning, electrical and compressed air systems.
  • Assist with requests for capital funds, to include executive summaries, bills of materials, and other necessary documentation for projects requiring capital funding.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, or irregular hours to complete projects or to support plant production.
  • B.S. in Engineering. B.S. in Civil Engineering highly preferred
  • 8-10 years’ experience –  industrial / manufacturing / maintenance
  • PE in Civil Engineering in LA, or ability to get same (Structural and Environmental a plus)
  • Ability to use AutoCAD, finite element analysis, RISA-3D, building and general codes (NFPA, IBC, API, OSHA)
Ability through continuing education credits to permit building renovations, additions to existing buildings and new buildings through the Louisiana Office of the Fire Marshal.
