Engineering Project Manager - Hydropower
Location: Portland, OR
We are currently seeking an Engineering Project Manager to join the Hydropower & Dam Team of a globally established engineering services firm for our Portland, OR office. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, and goal-oriented
excited about growing the business with a flexible, dynamic group of hydropower professionals.
Our key business lines focus on dam and water resources, hydroelectric generation facilities, water conveyance systems, and lock / dam and flood control projects
Project Management and Team Oversight.
Design elements of multidisciplinary projects for new construction and modifications to existing structures. This includes all phases of project development, from conceptual feasibility studies and cost analyses through permitting, construction, and post-construction monitoring.
Engineer of Record.
Stamp and certify engineering studies you perform or those of other Hydropower staff working under your direction.
Strong working knowledge and experience with hydroelectric generation, and the FERC and USACE process and guidelines. Additional knowledge of other energy generation facilities, including solar and fossil generation, is a bonus.
Client Facing Representative.
Represent company at client meetings, industry conferences, or with industry organizations. Existing standing in industry organizations is a bonus.
Monitor project progress for technical accuracy and adherence to schedule and budget to meet the high expectations of our clients.
Assist the West Region Manager with development of client relationships, identifying new contract opportunities, and leading proposal and interview efforts. Develop and sustain a portfolio of long-lasting business relationships with clients and consulting teaming partners.
PE license (Civil/Structural, Geotechnical, Electrical/Mechanical) – OR or WA.
10+ years of experience, with at least 5 years of demonstrated project management experience with hydropower / dams or water resource projects.
Significant experience interacting with local, state, and federal agencies, specifically the FERC, and possess knowledge/relationships relating to major initiatives in the hydropower, energy generation and energy distribution industries.
Strong technical writing ability.
Strong experience and dedicated interest in managing project support staff.
Ability to conduct occasional business travel (10 – 25%).
Prior approval by the FERC as Independent Consultant or PFMA Facilitator
